Assunnah Islamic Centre (AIC) was established in 1997 by a group of concerned Muslims to advance the Islamic religion, educate the Muslim community and help Muslims settle and adapt to life into their new environment. Located in North London, AIC is the heart of the local Muslim population. It acts as an anchor in the lives of thousands of people, educating children and providing a focal point for teenagers and families.

Responsible To: Assunnah General Manager

Accountable To: Chair Of Trustees

Hours: 16 Hrs/week

Salary: £12,500 Per Annum (Pro Rata)

Holidays: 28 Days Per Year (Pro Rata)

Number of Positions: x2

Purpose Of The Job:

  • To carry out assessments for Assunnah Islamic Centre to ensure that all clients that are referred to the service are directed to relevant support and activities.
  • Develop culturally appropriate activities, including social support activities supporting the Somali community.
  • To implement and deliver activities programmes that maximise service user wellbeing, developing their social skills and confidence in a caring and accepting atmosphere.
  • To liaise with all facilitators of activities to ensure they adhere to our policies and procedures to deliver safe, skilled based activities that enhance service users’ wellbeing.
  • To manage volunteers that assist with delivering the wellbeing activities ensuring that they receive regular supervision and support.

Experience (Essential):

  • Experience in providing one to one and group support for people with mental health difficulties.
  • Knowledge of Welfare benefit payments.
  • Experience in group facilitation with diverse community members.
  • Experience in using database systems. Microsoft systems and digital platforms.
  • Experience in managing or supervising others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Experience in safeguarding vulnerable adults at risk.
